Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Traffic Engineering Intern to join our team. This hybrid position requires at least three days a week in the office and is open to undergraduate and graduate-level candidates seeking hands-on experience in transportation projects.

Interns will assist with traffic studies, design, and analysis, using industry software, with mentoring from seasoned engineers and exposure to interactions with state DOTs and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic engineering studies, transportation planning, and traffic design projects.
• Conduct traffic simulation and operational analyses using software such as VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, and HCS.
• Assist with the preparation and review of traffic impact studies, technical reports, and analysis documentation.
• Support transportation safety analyses involving vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
• Assist with traffic signal operations, signal coordination and timing, and pedestrian and bicycle facility analysis.
• Develop design concepts and assist with roadway signing, pavement markings, and maintenance of traffic (MPT) plans using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams by providing traffic engineering input for environmental studies, roadway design, and Design Approval Documents.
• Coordinate with project team members and assist with communication with state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and local agencies.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and the preparation of technical proposals and business development materials.
• Participate in public information meetings and other project-related activities.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to support project goals and team objectives.
