Job summary

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) seeks a Traffic Engineer to support the Office of Engineering and Construction in Baltimore, MD. You will review traffic studies, design traffic-related elements, and assist with MOT, signing, and pavement marking, in line with state and federal standards, with potential hybrid telework.

Requirements include an Engineer in Training certificate, two years of engineering experience including traffic work, and one year in planning/design related to

Qualifications

• EIT certification required at appointment.
• Two years of engineering experience acceptable to the State Board, including specialized analysis and design.
• One year of experience in traffic engineering planning/analysis/design.
• Selective qualification requires one year in traffic engineering; graduate education can substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Review and perform traffic design elements of highway projects, including MOT, Signing, and Pavement Marking per standards.
• Conduct and/or review traffic engineering studies.
• Manage crash history records and safety studies; address data requests.
• Manage traffic data collection and reporting; perform capacity analyses.
• Assist in GIS-based tools development for traffic data/assets.
• Respond to stakeholder requests and emergency events.
