The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) seeks a Traffic Engineer to support the Office of Engineering and Construction in Baltimore, MD. The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities across Maryland, including bridges, tunnels, and turnpikes. The Traffic Engineer supports the Office of Engineering and Construction by performing traffic engineering duties associated with planning, design, construction, and operation. The incumbent will review and conduct traffic studies, design traffic-related elements, and support OEC’s Traffic Discipline. This position is located in Baltimore, MD at the Francis Scott Key Bridge facility and may offer hybrid telework schedules.
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of an Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate in the State of Maryland. Evidence of certificate must be presented at the time of appointment.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience performing engineering work acceptable to the Maryland State Board for Professional Engineers, involving specialized engineering analysis and design. One (1) year of experience performing planning, analysis, and/or design activities related to traffic engineering.
Selective Qualification: One (1) year of experience performing planning, analysis, and/or design activities relating to traffic engineering. No substitutions are allowed for this selective qualification.
Applicants may substitute additional graduate-level education in engineering for the required experience on a year-to-year basis.
