Job summary

Mayo Clinic is hiring a Surgical Coder II Float Coder located within 100 miles of Minnesota campuses to support Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Cath Lab, Plastic and Orthopedic surgeries. The role codes physician documentation and collaborates with surgeons to ensure accurate coding.

The position requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS-P or CPC credentials with 4–6 years of surgical coding experience, and offers a hybrid work arrangement with diverse specialty exposure.

Qualifications

• High School diploma with 6 years of physician/professional/procedural/surgical coding experience.
• Associate's Degree with 4 years of physician/professional/procedural/surgical coding experience.
• Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of physician/professional/procedural/surgical coding experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P or CPC credential required.
• HFMA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of NCCI, NCD, LCD and outpatient coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Code professional/physician documentation for surgical cases.
• Collaborate with surgeons to ensure code accuracy.
• Review and analyze medical records for cardiovascular, thoracic, cath lab, plastic, and orthopedic specialties.
• Apply coding and billing knowledge in teaching settings and provider-based facilities.
