Nationwide invites interns to join the Surety Underwriting team in a 12-week summer program designed to build a strong foundation for a career in insurance underwriting. Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Insurance, economics, or related field
• Completion of junior year is preferred
• Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience

Responsibilities

• Captures information from multiple sources to support underwriting
• Reviews risks for acceptability within authority
• Completes underwriting transactions within time and service standards
• Analyzes CPA and company financial statements for underwriting input
• Determines steps to process work and decides on acceptance, rejection or modification
• Consults with agents and internal partners to identify opportunities
• Enters policies and runs underwriting reports
• Works with territory, field, claims, sales and other associates to gather information
