Job summary

PG&E in Fresno is seeking a Supervisor of Substation Engineering & Design to lead a diverse team of engineers and drafters in delivering high‑quality substation designs on time and within budget.

You will collaborate with Project Management to build a balanced plan, monitor safety metrics, and drive adoption of new technologies to improve project outcomes.

This hybrid role requires strong leadership, knowledge of transmission and substation engineering, and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance or equivalent.
• 5 years of engineering experience including electric substation and transmission line work.
• Two years of leadership experience (supervision or lead role).
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Registered Electrical P.E. (preferred).
• Familiarity with PG&E standards and design processes.
• Familiarity with ESC, Local 20 labor contract.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools and scheduling software (Clarity, MS Project, Primavera).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of 15-18 engineers, drafters and assistants.
• Promote safe work practices and a strong safety culture.
• Ensure a safe environment and communicate objectives; coach staff.
• Foster understanding of substation engineering's role in project success.
• Remove hurdles impacting project support and timelines.
• Promote accountability for quality, cost and schedule.
• Maintain short and long term production schedules with PMs.
• Make timely decisions on internal work and contracted work.
• Support teamwork, innovation and new tech adoption.
• Provide ongoing performance feedback and technical support.
