Job summary

Alpha 3 Consulting is seeking a Substation Engineer to support HV substation projects from conceptual through detailed design. The role offers a hybrid schedule with three days in the office in Hamilton, NJ and two days remote.

The candidate should have an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, a Master’s in power engineering or 2+ years of experience, and familiarity with protection schemes, NEC/NESC, and AutoCAD/Microstation. Great teamwork and time management are essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in electrical/electronics engineering or a closely related field
• Master’s degree in electrical power engineering or at least two years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of electrical substations including familiarity with the physical characteristics, access, connection, and support requirements for transformers, breakers, disconnects, buswork, and associated equipment
• Utility project experience, including familiarity with protection requirements, protection schemes, and application of digital relays, knowledge of common substation configurations, electrical codes including NEC and NESC, and knowledge of Microstation and/or AutoCAD
• Ability to work on a team and on multiple projects
• Ability to understand and incorporate comments and feedback
• Ability to adapt to various client standards and procedures
• Personal time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines
• Attention to detail and pride in work product quality

Responsibilities

• Analyze, evaluate, and create new designs and drawings with guidance from senior engineering personnel
• Work in an integrated project team environment and produce deliverables including one lines, schematics, layouts, site plans, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and bills of material
