Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering is seeking a Lead Commissioning Engineer in Modesto, CA to lead testing and commissioning of transmission and distribution substations and generator plants. You will direct relay, breaker, transformer, and substation equipment testing, while training engineers and technicians in testing procedures.

You will coordinate with project teams, ensure safety protocols, and manage schedules with subcontractors and customers, often handling multiple capital projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical or engineering technology) from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 8-20+ years testing & commissioning experience.
• Deep understanding of three-phase power systems and protection & control schemes.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing and commissioning services for substation/ generation projects.
• Develop and sign off detailed test procedures and documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, personnel and customers per project requirements.
• Provide safety analysis and equipment isolation procedures.
• Witness critical tests such as DC Functional Trip Testing prior to energization.
• Mentor and train engineers/technicians in relay testing and commissioning.
