Symetra in Bellevue, WA is seeking an actuarial lead for captives and reinsurance to partner across Pricing, Underwriting, Finance, and executive leadership. You will evaluate opportunities, optimize captive structures, and deliver analytics-driven insights to support profitable growth.

The role requires deep actuarial expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence senior leaders. Flexible full-time or hybrid work arrangements are available, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of actuarial experience within insurance, reinsurance, or captive-related environments.
• Deep expertise in captive insurance arrangements, reinsurance structures, and actuarial pricing methodologies.
• Strong understanding of insurance financials: GAAP, Statutory accounting, reserves, profitability analysis.
• Ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into actionable business recommendations.

Responsabilités

• Lead actuarial oversight of Symetra's captive and reinsurance initiatives, including performance monitoring, reporting, and strategic recommendations.
• Evaluate and analyze captive arrangements and reinsurance treaties to support growth and profitability objectives.
• Partner with underwriting teams to assess and price captive opportunities.
• Develop tools, models, and analytics to measure captive performance and support informed business decisions.
• Provide expertise on reinsurance risk, captive structures, and financial implications.
• Collaborate with internal leaders and external partners, brokers, and consultants on captive opportunities and RFPs.
• Monitor financial results, identify key performance drivers, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership.
• Represent Symetra at industry events and maintain awareness of market trends and emerging opportunities.
