Job summary

Symetra is seeking an AVP and Actuary to drive the strategy, performance, and growth of our stop loss captive and reinsurance business. You will lead actuarial initiatives across pricing, underwriting, finance, and executive leadership to evaluate opportunities and deliver insights that support profitable growth.

This highly visible role requires complex problem solving, strong analytics, and industry relationships to influence strategy and partner with internal teams and external brokers on

As the actuarial lead for captives and reinsurance, you\'ll partner across Pricing, Underwriting, Finance, and executive leadership to evaluate opportunities, optimize captive structures, and deliver insights that support profitable growth. This is a highly visible role for an actuary who thrives in complex environments and enjoys influencing strategy through analytics, financial expertise, and industry relationships.

What You Will Do

• Lead actuarial oversight of Symetra\'s captive and reinsurance initiatives, including performance monitoring, reporting, and strategic recommendations.


• Evaluate and analyze captive arrangements and reinsurance treaties to support growth and profitability objectives.


• Partner with underwriting teams to assess and price captive opportunities.


• Develop tools, models, and analytics to measure captive performance and support informed business decisions.


• Provide expertise on reinsurance risk, captive structures, and financial implications.
