Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Sr. Public Engagement Manager to lead strategic engagement planning for major transmission projects, and to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders across communities and governments.

The role partners with project teams, corporate communications, and legal to advocate for public interests, manage outreach, and coordinate proactive communication strategies during siting and construction of key infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years related work experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 7+ years related experience.
• Preferred: degree in Public Relations or Mass Communications.
• Demonstrated organization, planning and independent decision‑making skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic engagement plans for large, complex transmission projects.
• Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Advocate for the public’s interests and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Develop external communications with multiple levels of management and teams.
• Create proactive strategies to manage opposition to transmission projects.
• Identify solutions with external stakeholders to support project goals.
• Lead preparation and collaboration for public hearings.
