Job summary

Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D) is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in a hybrid role based in Washington, DC, or Chicago, IL. You’ll support billing, reconciliations, and close activities while collaborating with leaders to grow technical accounting skills.

With 2–3 years of accounting experience and strong Excel and Workday proficiency, you’ll contribute to process improvements during our Workday implementation and multi-entity environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 2–3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
• Experience with Workday or similar ERP/accounting system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process customer billing accurately and timely.
• Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities and journal entries.
• Monitor accounts receivable activity and assist with collections as needed.
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
• Support internal auditing requests and schedules.
