Protolabs is seeking a Staff Accountant for a hybrid role based in Maple Plain, MN, onsite Tue-Thu. The position supports the Americas accounting function within a global finance organization and reports to the Accounting Manager.

The role involves monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and internal control duties. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of accounting experience, a Bachelor's in Accounting, and prior public accounting exposure.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Experience at a Public Accounting Firm.
• General Ledger: Month-End Close, Reconciliations, Financial Reporting, Audit Support, Process Improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work self-directed and coordinate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post journal entries across various accounting areas in support of the monthly close process.
• Perform and review account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Support a fast-paced close process, including variance analysis and flux explanations.
• Maintain ownership of assigned areas of the general ledger, ensuring accounting is in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, including close optimization, automation opportunities, and standardization.
• Maintain and enhance documentation of accounting processes and procedures.
• Serve as a control owner for key SOX controls.
• Support internal and external audit requests, including testing and documentation preparation.
• Partner with cross-functional teams across finance, operations, and other business functions.
