Job summary

CFS in Arlington, VA is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing accounting team. The role combines general accounting with accounts payable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, maintain fixed assets, process cash activity, handle vendor invoices, payroll entries, and support month‑end close with accurate reporting. This is a Monday–Friday hybrid position.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, full cycle accounting, and accounts payable processes.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint a plus.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail, self motivated, coachable, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and perform reconciliations across general ledger accounts, subledgers, fixed assets, expense accounts, and banking activity.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes in line with GAAP and internal controls.
• Maintain fixed asset records and related capitalization/depreciation entries.
• Record daily cash activity including customer receipts, bank transfers, wires and banking fees.
• Assist with accounts payable processing, vendor invoices, employee reimbursements and payments.
• Reconcile accounts payable, accrued liabilities and other balance sheet accounts.
• Audit and reconcile payroll transactions and related entries.
• Process GL adjustments and reclasses in the ERP system.
• Monitor corporate credit card programs and ensure proper coding and documentation.
• Track overseas cash activity and related banking transactions and fees.
• Prepare financial reports and variance analyses for management decisions.
