Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking an Sr Production Planner in Linden, NJ to own day-to-day work order management and short-term production scheduling in a complex manufacturing environment.

You will release, prioritize, sequence, and close work orders in SAP, adjusting schedules based on real-time shop floor conditions and material constraints. This role requires strong data accuracy and cross-functional communication to maintain flow and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Work order experience required.
• 5+ years of Production Planning experience required.
• Experience in Aerospace & Defense, Medical device, or industrial equipment industry required.
• Experience with SAP

Responsibilities

• Own daily work order management in SAP, including release, prioritization, sequencing, tracking, and closure.
• Execute and adjust short-term production schedules based on real-time shop floor conditions.
• Monitor open, in-process, and late work orders, driving timely completion and recovery actions.
• Re-prioritize and reschedule work orders to address material shortages, rework, and capacity constraints.
• Ensure SAP data accuracy: status, lead times, priorities, and completion information.
• Support implementation of ECNs and MRB dispositions within active work orders.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing to align job priorities and resolve shop-floor issues.
• Communicate clear status updates and risks to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Supervisors and Project Managers on time-sensitive scheduling decisions.
• Utilize SAP MRP to support material planning, inventory management, and scheduling.
• Balance competing priorities to maintain schedule integrity.
• Support low-volume, long-lead production schedules.
• Contribute to Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement where applicable.
