Job summary

Michigan Medicine seeks a dedicated specimen processing staff member to assure accurate receipt, entry, transport, processing and distribution of laboratory specimens. You will provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers and support Mi-Chart order processing.

Key duties include specimen transport, receiving, centrifuging preparation, labeling, dispatch, and ensuring quality and safety in a fast-paced environment at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to walk 3-5 miles, climb 6 flights of stairs, lift up to 10 lbs, and bend at ~45 degrees during an eight-hour shift.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

• Transport specimens from inpatient units.
• Receive, sort, and distribute specimens to work benches.
• Enter laboratory test orders into the computer system.
• Process Mi-Chart orders and labels for specimens.
• Provide customer service to internal and external customers.
