Job summary

The Cigna Group is seeking a Software Engineering Advisor for a hybrid role in Plano, TX. You will design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices and REST APIs for healthcare operations including Patient, Membership, and Pharmacy workflows.

Collaborate across teams, participate in scrum, and drive production-grade solutions. You will leverage Spring Boot, J2EE, and cloud tooling (AWS/OpenShift) while contributing to architectural discussions and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• 4+ years of IT experience.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, SOAP, REST, Tomcat, and MongoDB queries.
• Proficiency with build/testing tools like Maven, JUnit, Mockito, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, OpenShift) and microservices architectures.
• Experience with gRPC, Terraform, Lambda, and related AWS services is a plus.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid schedule and collaborate across onshore/offshore teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop APIs and applications in healthcare domain for Patient, Membership, Dispense, and Pharmacy operations.
• Build and maintain entity-based microservices using Java/J2EE with modern frameworks.
• Analyze business requirements to design scalable software solutions.
• Lead discussions and communicate ideas across organizational levels.
• Participate in design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of software applications.
• Develop REST APIs (microservices) consumed by end users per internal requirements.
• Collaborate in scrum ceremonies and coordinate with business analysts to implement needs into designs.
