Franklin Templeton is seeking a software engineer to deliver modern web applications and scalable backend services in a hybrid Baltimore setting. You will build UI with React.js, implement RESTful APIs with Python/Java/Spring Boot, and contribute to secure, testable software aligned with enterprise standards.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, onboarding to cloud platforms like AWS, and active participation in CI/CD practices and code reviews.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience in full-stack, web application, or related software development.
• Hands-on experience with React.js and modern front-end development, including JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Backend development experience using Python/Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, or Okta.
• Familiarity with AWS or another major cloud platform and basic cloud deployment concepts.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, and modern software development practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong presentation and collaboration skills, including the ability to demonstrate solutions, participate effectively in technical discussions, and work with engineering and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned deliverables.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain modern web applications using React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Develop and enhance backend services and REST APIs using Python/Java/Spring Boot or Node.js.
• Build reusable UI components and deliver responsive, accessible, and user-friendly application experiences.
• Integrate applications with enterprise APIs, data services, workflow systems, and other platform capabilities.
• Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, Okta, or similar enterprise identity technologies.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established software engineering, security, and coding standards.
• Contribute to automated testing, Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, and application deployment processes.
• Support application monitoring, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and defect resolution.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and coding assistants to improve development, testing, debugging, and documentation while following enterprise security and quality standards.
• Collaborate with software engineers, platform engineers, product teams, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver application capabilities.
• Communicate and present technical solutions, application features, and demonstrations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, demonstrations, and engineering knowledge-sharing sessions.
