Job summary

Franklin Templeton is seeking a software engineer to join our Enterprise Data, Governance & Integration Platforms Engineering team in Baltimore. You will develop modern web apps, APIs, and integrations across cloud platforms, partnering with multiple teams to deliver scalable solutions.

You will work with Java/Spring Boot, React, Azure/AWS, Docker, and CI/CD to build reliable services, implement security, and automate deployments while collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience in API development, backend, integration, or cloud-native applications.
• Strong development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs and understanding API lifecycle concepts.
• Experience with Azure API Management (APIM) or comparable API gateway/management technologies.
• Experience with Azure and/or AWS and cloud-native application development.
• Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain modern web applications using React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and manage APIs using Azure API Management (APIM) and follow enterprise API lifecycle and governance standards.
• Build integrations across enterprise applications, third-party systems, and cloud platforms.
• Support hybrid-cloud solutions spanning Azure and AWS.
• Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, and mTLS.
• Develop containerized services using Docker and support cloud-native deployment patterns.
• Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring, logging, and observability to improve application reliability.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to continuous platform improvements.
• Collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, security teams, application teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Communicate and present technical designs, architecture decisions, platform capabilities, and implementation approaches clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate actively in design reviews, technical discussions, demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
