Grainger, a leading broad line distributor, is hiring Software Engineers in Chicago for hybrid roles. You will design, build, test, deploy, and support scalable software solutions, working with product managers, architects, and engineers across the full software development life cycle.

Roles vary by level—Senior, Staff, and Sr Staff—with 3+ to 7+ years of experience, strong engineering practices, CI/CD, and focus on performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in modern software engineering, including designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting scalable software applications or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, DevOps practices, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and organizational boundaries and influence outcomes without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, test, deploy, and support high-quality software applications, systems, and platforms that are scalable, maintainable, reliable, and secure.
• Translate business requirements into effective technical designs with product managers, architects, engineers, analysts, and leadership.
• Mentor and coach engineers, share knowledge, and help build a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.
