Grainger, a leading broad line distributor, seeks a Lead Software Engineer (Software Engineer IV) in a hybrid Chicago-based role. You will develop scalable applications, coach engineers, and partner with Product Managers and Architecture to deliver high-quality software.

You will mentor teams, drive continuous delivery, and tackle complex problems around cart, pricing, tax, and payment capabilities. Expect collaboration at scale in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years experience as a Software Engineer with scalable software experience.
• Expert knowledge of programming and distributed system design.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and DevOps practices.
• Experience building HTTP APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineer on a team delivering high-quality, scalable software.
• Influence adoption of defaults to enable continuous delivery.
• Mentor developers through code reviews and pair programming.
• Partner with IT Management to ensure design and delivery of tech solutions.
• Triage and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
