Job summary

Taskrabbit in San Francisco is hiring a Software Architect to drive Platform Modernization (TSA) and serve as an embedded architect across engineering teams. The role involves hands-on work, pairing with engineers, and guiding modernization efforts with AI-assisted and Spec-Driven practices.

You will collaborate with a small architecture team, write and review TDDs and RFCs, and establish cross-team standards to ensure consistent modernization across the platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience focusing on backend systems.
• Distributed systems and event-driven architecture experience.
• TypeScript/Node.js experience preferred; other strongly typed languages accepted.

Responsibilities

• Represent Architecture team to assigned engineering groups and drive TSA-aligned modernization.
• Apply AI tooling and Spec-Driven Development to help teams modernize platform components.
• Pair with engineers and tech leads to unblock modernization work and transfer architectural patterns.
• Advise on migration approach, sequencing, and risk for TSA implementations.
• Define standards for tooling, coding, AI usage, and documentation across teams.
