Job summary

Jewish Family & Children's Service seeks a Synagogue & Jewish Community Social Worker to embed in Greater Boston synagogues and lead bereavement and support groups. You will support clergy, staff, congregants and families with grief, mental health, and social service referrals in a high-visibility role.

The role requires a master's degree in social work and MA licensure eligibility, with clinical supervision provided. Travel to multiple sites and some evening/weekend work are expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in social work or related field.
• Massachusetts licensure eligibility (LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT).
• Clergy must have CP E units and experience in bereavement or chaplaincy.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site social worker for partner synagogues.
• Lead bereavement and support groups for Greater Boston synagogues and communities.
• Provide consultation, information and short-term case management to congregants and families.
• Collaborate with clergy, staff, lay leaders, and families on mental health and social needs.
• Travel to partner communities; occasional evenings/weekends as required.
