Job summary

Fuss & O'Neill, Inc. in Hartford, CT seeks an experienced Site Development Project Manager to lead civil/site engineering projects from concept through permitting and construction support.

The role covers multi-family, higher-ed, K-12, commercial, and brownfields redevelopment with cross‑functional teams and regulatory collaboration. Ideal candidates have a PE license (preferred), 8+ years in site/civil design, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering preferred.
• 8+ years of site/civil engineering experience with strong site design skills.
• Project management experience including contracts, QA/QC, scheduling, and staff oversight.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Experience with local and state permitting requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D required; HydroCAD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Managing site/civil engineering projects from initial scoping through design, permitting, and construction support.
• Developing project scopes, contracts, schedules, and budget.
• Overseeing and mentoring engineering staff and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
• Preparing and reviewing site designs including layout, grading, utilities, erosion & sediment control, and site details.
• Designing stormwater management systems.
• Coordinating with municipal staff and attending public meetings.
• Participating in field meetings and site visits.
• Assisting with report preparation and local/state permit applications.
• Supporting business development efforts and maintaining client relationships.
