Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus is required.
• 5+ years in transmission planning, interconnection, or related service.
• Experience filing and managing interconnection requests as developer/utility/ISO/RTO/consultant.
• Proficiency with grid analytics tools and familiarity with production cost tools.
• Knowledge of multiple ISO/RTO tariffs and interconnection processes across regions.
• Ability to work with utilities, ISOs, and vendors to drive project feasibility.
• Familiarity with NERC standards and regional planning criteria.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 30% and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal transmission planning studies and interconnection analyses.
• Maintain study cases and transmission models across the portfolio.
• Prepare interconnection applications, data, and study agreements.
• Manage the interconnection tracker with milestones and budgets.
• Serve as technical point of contact with utilities and ISOs/RTOs.
• Review interconnection study results and propose mitigations.
• Evaluate cost allocations and queue strategy decisions.
• Support interconnection agreements and related contracts.
• Interpret tariffs and planning criteria; track reforms.
• Coordinate with HVDC engineers for models and validation.
• Oversee consultants and vendors; ensure quality of deliverables.
• Represent Grid United in stakeholder meetings and industry forums.
• Provide routing, sizing, and due diligence input to teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish study standards.
