Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking a Transit Planning Manager to provide technical support and analytical expertise for transit planning activities. You will oversee studies, administer state and federal grants, and manage the transit portion of the MYP, working closely with OIPI and transit operators.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of transit planning experience (or 8+ years of related work), plus strong MS Office skills and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of transportation/planning experience OR eight years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal funding programs and processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely preparation of the transit portion of the multimodal Multi-Year Program (MYP).
• Lead development and implementation of the Illinois Statewide Public Transportation Plan.
• Maintain accurate transit operating data, funding data, and grant status.
• Coordinate with Office of Intermodal Project Implementation (OIPI) and public transportation operators.
• Manage fund transfers and approvals for transportation development credits.
