Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a Senior Principal Project Manager for Yards & Facilities to oversee large capital programs (over $250M) related to railyard and facility upgrades and modifications. You will lead project plans, schedules, budgets, risk management, and governance across cross-functional teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and at least 9 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated leadership across dispersed teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of training, education and relevant expertise may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Plus, 9 years of prior relevant experience required.
• Experience overseeing scope, schedule and budgets of capital improvement and capital maintenance programs.
• Experience collaborating with diverse, geographically dispersed groups and strong interdepartmental leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements project plans, schedules and budgets; oversees bid negotiations and consultant relationships.
• Monitors project schedules, progress and costs; updates baselines and communicates status to stakeholders.
• Manages risks and issues; documents changes and supports governance decisions.
• Leads and mentors junior staff; ensures adherence to PM practices and governance.
• Provides financial performance reports to executives and regulators; evaluates risks across organizations.
