Job summary

Pacific Life in Omaha, NE is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our growing network and security infrastructure. You will collaborate with our security team and global IT staff to protect customers and the brand while supporting a hybrid work model.

The role requires 7+ years in IT networking, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/NXOS expertise, and experience with NetScaler, F5, Riverbed, and Palo Alto technologies. A BS/MS in engineering or CS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 7 years of IT experience, configuring and installing network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
• Advanced technical skills with L2/L3 protocols and technologies such as IPSec, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, VPC, QoS, 802.1x; familiarity with Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NXOS
• Familiar with platforms – NetScaler, F5, Riverbed, Palo Alto, Cisco components (Catalyst, ISR, ASR, Nexus, ASA/FTD); Cisco ACI a plus
• Understanding of open-source and other monitoring/troubleshooting tools for performance analysis
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail
• One or more certifications: Cisco CCNP or CCIE
• Flexible schedule including nights and weekends
• BS/MS in Engineering and/or Computer Science or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Implement network and network security solutions and related products, platforms, or appliances
• Interface with management and vendors to develop and implement new solutions
• Design and manage rollout of network infrastructures with capacity planning, performance tuning, and configuration optimization
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including patches and security configurations
• Maintain network security across the global enterprise and monitor for security breaches
• Use network tools for administration, maintenance, automation, and reporting
• Develop technical documentation for deployment, configuration, and management
• Participate in IT security audits and ensure required controls are implemented
• Build strong relationships outside IT to understand business needs and communicate complex details clearly
