Job summary

Elevance Health in Atlanta, GA seeks a Senior Group Underwriter Consultant to determine acceptability of insurance risks and set premium rates for large complex group cases. You will act as the senior technical underwriting expert and mentor associates while collaborating with Sales, Actuarial, Finance and other partners.

Qualifications

• Requires BA/BS in a related field; Minimum 7 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
• CP CU, CLU, LOMA, HIAA, PAHM or other insurance related courses preferred.
• Student health population experience and/or professional employer organizations (PEO) experience preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel experience, including working with complex formulas and macros, is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Determines acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large and complex group cases.
• Develops and evaluates pricing and renewal strategies based on experience, demographics, plan design, market conditions, and other risk factors.
• Monitors underwriting workflow, business results, internal controls, and adherence to policies and guidelines.
• Collaborates with Sales, Account Management, Actuarial, Finance, and other partners on pricing and renewal strategies.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to underwriting associates.
• Calculates renewal rates for large complex cases based on extensive data analysis.
