Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking a Group Underwriter Consultant Senior to determine acceptability of insurance risks and set premium rates for large and complex group cases. This senior technical underwriter will lead pricing and renewal strategies, monitor workflows, and guide cross-functional teams on risk assessment and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• Requires a BA/BS in a related field; Minimum 7 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Responsibilities

• Determines acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large and complex group cases.
• Develops and evaluates pricing and renewal strategies based on experience, demographics, plan design, market conditions, and other risk factors.
• Monitors underwriting workflow, internal controls, and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with Sales, Account Management, Actuarial, Finance and other partners on pricing, sales, and renewal strategies.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to underwriting associates.
• Calculates renewal rates for large complex cases based on thorough analysis of experience and demographics.
• Coordinates with other departments to ensure accuracy and consistency of account reporting.
