Job summary

Duke Energy seeks a Senior Engineer to manage engineering work in EMS areas with minimal supervision and to develop advanced skills for independent projects.

The role requires strong technical leadership, cross-team collaboration, and the ability to deliver complex analyses, reports, and recommendations across the grid EMS domain while supporting 24x7 operations.

Hybrid work arrangement with remote/on-site flexibility within commutable distance to a Duke Energy facility.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering required.
• Master's degree will be considered in lieu of the BS.
• Minimum six years of related engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in EMS problem analysis and resolution.
• Plans and coordinates complex projects with full technical responsibility.
• Analyzes business processes and develops EMS standards.
• Keeps abreast of new EMS developments and equipment.
• Collaborates with IT and EMS teams to ensure cyber security and NERC/O&P compliance.
• Maintains knowledge of EMS software (State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Network).
• Leads development of corporate positions on EMS topics.
• Supports 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Delivers thorough technical reports and sketches for defined problems.
• Ensures scheduling, estimating and monitoring to meet business goals.
