Placements24 client in the oil and gas exploration sector seeks a Senior Geologist - Structural Interpretation for their Paarl, Western Cape, ZA team. The role emphasizes deciphering complex structures hosting hydrocarbon prospects, with strong focus on seismic interpretation, fault analysis and 3D geological modeling.

You will collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to build a subsurface understanding and guide exploration and drilling decisions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or Geophysics required.
• 8+ years of exploration geology experience focused on structural interpretation.
• Proficient with seismic interpretation software (Petrel/ Landmark/GeoX).
• Strong knowledge of structural geology, tectonics and sequence stratigraphy.
• Ability to build and validate 3D geological models.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience in frontier or complex basins is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Perform detailed structural and stratigraphic interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data.
• Identify, map, and analyze faults, folds and other structural features.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models with structural elements.
• Integrate seismic interpretation with well data (logs and core).
• Assess geological risk and uncertainty in structural traps.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to improve workflows.
• Work with reservoir engineers to ensure models meet requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and prospect evaluations.
• Mentor junior geologists in structural interpretation techniques.
• Contribute to regional studies and play fairway analysis.
