Job summary

Merrick & Company in Ellicott City, Maryland is seeking a Lead/Senior Electrical Engineer to supervise and serve as electrical technical lead in our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing department.

The role focuses on conceptual and detailed design of low voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMI, process equipment and instrumentation for industrial markets, with relocation considered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of twelve (12) years of electrical engineering experience in power, energy, oil & gas or industrial processes.
• Experience developing one-line drawings, control schematics and wiring diagrams, equipment specs and power plans.
• Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC codes and standards.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel & Word; familiar with AutoCAD/REVIT or other design software.
• Ability to work in the office 3+ days per week.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• PE license required.
• US citizenship required for client projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project discipline lead and oversee 2-4 employees.
• Develop electrical design documents and drawings.
• Analyze and approve work; monitor team performance.
• Design low voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMI, process equipment and instrumentation.
• Interact with clients, officials, contractors and others.
• Lead project meetings and presentations.
• Perform electrical calculations (voltage drop, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, relay settings, conduit fill, lighting, grounding).
• Develop specifications and datasheets for transformers, switchgear, MCCs.
• Travel to client sites for field walkdowns and as-built efforts.
• Monitor resources to meet project estimates.
• Coordinate with Design/Engineering Managers to meet schedules.
