Job summary

Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) in San Diego, CA, seeks a Senior Associate, Development to co-lead high-stakes fundraising efforts, partnering with senior leadership on strategic planning and mentorship for Development Associates.

You will drive foundation, corporate, government, and individual funding initiatives, collaborating with Investment, Program, and Executive leadership to align fundraising with impact and external outreach goals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in grant writing and revenue generation with a track record of securing funds
• Experience managing complex cross-functional projects across geographically dispersed teams
• Proven history of partnering with executive leaders, board members, or senior program directors on high-stakes funding opportunities
• Proven ability to deliver presentations, pitches, or strategic briefings to institutional program officers and individual donors
• Foundational project leadership, cross-team facilitation, and staff/peer mentorship skills across dispersed teams
• Outstanding written and verbal storytelling skills translating workforce development and justice-system data into compelling cases for support
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent proposal deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
• Rigorous attention to grant guidelines, budgets, and qualitative/quantitative reporting
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Salesforce CRM/donor management platforms preferred
• Ability to shift priorities swiftly to match organizational needs
• Commitment to social and racial justice

Responsibilities

• Drafts, assembles, and submits compelling responses to foundation, corporate, and government RFPs, concept papers, and LOIs
• Coordinates the assembly and submission of data-driven grant reports for institutional funders and donors
• Researches prospective institutional and individual funders; develops strategy memos and supports program funding priorities
• Coordinates site visits with current and prospective funders; drafts briefing memos and follow-up correspondence
• Partners with Program, Investment, Finance, and Grants teams to ensure on-time deliverables and strict grant compliance
• Tracks cultivation, solicitations, deliverables, and milestones for portfolios in Salesforce
• Regional and national fundraising strategy development in coordination with leadership
• Serves as project lead on high-stakes, multi-stakeholder revenue opportunities including federal grants and major gifts
• Prepares high-level strategy memos, concept decks, and tailored presentations for prospective funders
• Provides guidance and onboarding support to Development Associates; co-leads training sessions
• Leads portfolio reviews and revenue pipeline calls; ensures data integrity in Salesforce and donor acknowledgments
• Other related duties as assigned
