Job summary

First American seeks a Commercial Title Officer / Commercial Underwriter to support and underwrite a broad range of commercial real estate transactions. You’ll analyze title risk, review documentation, issue underwriting guidance, and partner with customers and internal teams to deliver top-tier title solutions.

The role is based in Houston, TX, with a hybrid setup for local candidates; remote candidates outside Houston are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial title and/or underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of commercial real estate law, title insurance, and settlement practices.
• Experience underwriting commercial deals and high-liability transactions preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with attorneys, customers, lenders, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review complete title searches for commercial transactions.
• Analyze records to determine ownership, identify risks, and verify title conditions.
• Provide underwriting support and guidance on commitments, endorsements, and policies.
• Evaluate title risk using standards and delegated authority guidelines.
• Review and price commitments, endorsements, policies, and guarantees.
