Job summary

Lockton Companies in New York City is seeking a Senior Claims Consultant to serve as a senior client advocate and technical resource for complex property and casualty claims, with emphasis on general liability, auto liability, and workers' compensation.

You will evaluate liability exposures, analyze coverage, collaborate with insurers, TPAs, and counsel, and develop claim strategies, loss trend analysis, and risk mitigation initiatives for the Northeast Series.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 10-15 years of progressively responsible experience handling or advising on commercial property and casualty claims.
• Expertise in complex general liability, auto liability, workers' compensation, and high-severity or litigated claims.
• Experience with excess liability claims and carrier coordination.
• Strong knowledge of liability insurance coverage, including exclusions, conditions, endorsements, additional insured status, and contractual risk transfer.
• Ability to provide both pre-loss risk management guidance and post-loss claim consulting.
• Excellent written communication and presentation capabilities.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

• Lead claims advocacy for significant, complex, or coverage-sensitive claims.
• Develop and execute claim strategies addressing liability, coverage, litigation, defense, and resolution.
• Participate in large-loss reviews, mediations, settlement discussions, and other strategic claim activities.
• Coordinate communication among clients, insurers, TPAs, counsel, producers, client executives, and internal specialists.
• Lead strategic reviews of current and legacy claim portfolios.
• Evaluate reserves, litigation strategies, action plans, and resolution opportunities.
• Identify claims for escalation, mediation, targeted closure, specialist involvement, or further investigation.
• Assess carrier and TPA performance and identify opportunities to improve claim outcomes and reduce total cost of risk.
