Placements24 is recruiting a seasoned Buyer for a leading manufacturing operation in Welkom, Free State. This hybrid role balances onsite collaboration with remote tasks to optimize procurement for materials, components, and equipment.

You will negotiate with suppliers, manage bids, track inventory, and collaborate with production and engineering to ensure cost-effective sourcing and timely deliveries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in buying or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven negotiation skills and experience in managing supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain operations.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, remote and on-site.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Identify and source suitable suppliers for raw materials, components, and operational equipment.
• Obtain quotations, compare prices, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions with vendors.
• Place purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and logistics teams to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and industry regulations.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the purchasing function.
• Stay informed about market trends, new materials, and potential supply chain risks.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic procurement planning.
