Job summary

Hunter Hamilton is seeking a Senior Accountant focused on Inventory and General Ledger to support our finance team on a 10-month assignment in Emeryville, CA. The role involves inventory reconciliations, month-end close, journal entries, and detailed financial reporting in a fast-paced retail environment.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting background, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Hands-on in month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
• Experience with ERP/financial systems (Oracle, SAP, MultiView).
• Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accurate reporting.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting docs.
• Review GL activity and analyze results to resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile retail inventory balances and investigate variances with GL.
• Ensure transactions align with US GAAP and internal policies.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve inventory accounting questions.
• Assist audits, including SOX compliance activities.
• Evaluate procedures and recommend improvements for accuracy and efficiency.
• Prepare financial analyses and support special projects as needed.
