Nordstrom is seeking a Principal AI Architect to design and build an AI-driven financial reporting infrastructure in Seattle. This hybrid role requires in-office work 4 days a week and hands-on coding, governance, and system orchestration across finance and data teams.

You will prototype production-grade AI agents, ensure traceability and controls, and mentor engineers while guiding platform direction in a fast-moving AI landscape.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software/data engineering or applied AI/ML experience, including production experience building and deploying AI systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with modern AI architectures – LLM design, agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, and prompt engineering.
• Strong data engineering fundamentals and enterprise data platform integration (e.g., BigQuery).
• Experience with financial reporting concepts, controls or close processes is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Architect and build the end-to-end AI infrastructure for automated financial reporting, including agents, data pipelines, and orchestrations.
• Design for reliability, traceability, reproducibility, and governance with strong auditability.
• Prototype and ship production-grade AI agents/pipelines, not just designs.
• Partner with Finance leadership and Data teams to improve reporting workflows and controls.
• Set architectural standards and mentor engineers; evaluate AI/ML tooling and platforms.
