Job summary

Nordstrom Finance is seeking a Principal AI Architect to design and build the AI-driven financial reporting platform. You will implement end-to-end AI agents, data pipelines, and prompts, delivering production-grade solutions with governance and auditability.

This hybrid Seattle-based role requires hands-on development, collaboration with FP&A and Controllership, and the ability to translate finance requirements into scalable AI systems that scale with Nordstrom's evolving reporting needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software/data engineering or applied AI/ML experience in production AI systems.
• Hands-on expertise with modern AI architectures - LLM apps, agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, and prompt/context engineering.
• Strong data engineering fundamentals and enterprise data platform integration (e.g., BigQuery or equivalent).
• Experience with financial reporting concepts and controls preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build end-to-end AI infrastructure for automated financial reporting.
• Define standards and best practices for applied AI within Finance Tech.
• Evaluate AI/ML tooling and platforms; guide build vs buy decisions.
• Partner with Finance, Risk, Audit to ensure controls and auditability.
