Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for Data Platform Enablement in Seattle to lead delivery across GCP/AWS, Looker Core, and data tooling. You will own platform reliability, capacity planning, and governance while staying hands-on with code and automation.

You will coach engineers, drive AI-enabled development, and collaborate with a product manager on vision and stakeholders. Seattle-based hybrid options may apply.

Qualifications

• 2+ years leading engineering teams with delivery accountability.
• 5+ years building software, platforms, or data systems.
• Hands-on Python proficiency and current coding activity.
• Strong cloud experience with GCP/AWS; Git, CI/CD, and IaC fluent.
• Experience owning access management programs at scale.
• Daily use of AI coding tools and a viewpoint on their impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering delivery across BigQuery/GCP, Looker Core, Metabase and AWS.
• Own platform reliability, incident response, and on-call for production systems.
• Drive capacity planning, forecast growth, and manage compute costs.
• Deprecate legacy platforms (MicroStrategy, Tableau).
• Own enterprise access provisioning and governance across the data platform.
• Lead cloud cost optimization with engineering and finance.
• Define access policies and provisioning workflows with security partners.
• Establish LookML governance and development standards.
• Partner with analytics teams on data modeling and dashboard design.
• Own platform health, migration governance, and Looker lifecycle.
• Lead CA enablement strategy and token utilization planning.
• Collaborate with teams to drive CA maturity enterprise-wide.
• Set technical direction and prioritize work; mentor engineers.
• Contribute as an engineer: code, build tooling, review PRs.
• Own hiring, capacity planning, and team health.
