Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Scrum Master / Sr. Software Developer to support a federal technology and defense contractor delivering mission-critical software for government agencies.

This hybrid role requires candidates to be within driving distance of the designated hubs and will split time between hands-on Java development and SAFe Agile leadership to modernize air traffic management systems in cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's + 8 years of relevant experience or Master's + 6 years equivalent in lieu of a degree.
• Java experience: 5+ years designing, developing, testing production apps.
• 2+ years as Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile team in a large-scale environment.
• Significant Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Security experience.
• Design and implement microservices and RESTful APIs; JSON/XML.
• Frontend experience: React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• JUnit/Mockito or equivalent testing experience.
• Strong Linux & Git proficiency; CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain production Java apps and cloud-native microservices.
• Contribute to architecture, reviews, and automated testing.
• Support legacy and new platform integration; troubleshoot issues.
• Lead SAFe ceremonies; PI planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement.
• Coordinate with Release Train Engineers, Product Owners, and stakeholders.
• Drive program delivery, manage cross-team dependencies and risks.
