Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Mount Pleasant, PA is seeking a Project Engineer to lead GIS substation projects from concept through installation, helping modernize the power grid amid renewable energy growth.

You will translate customer needs into practical engineering solutions, develop layouts and drawings, coordinate procurement and installation, and collaborate with our global teams while complying with ISO, environmental, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in substation engineering, HV equipment, power systems or heavy industrial environments.
• Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD; Creo and AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings and site support.

Responsibilities

• Lead GIS substation projects from concept through installation.
• Translate customer requirements into practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Develop substation layouts, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Lead technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate material procurement, fabrication requirements, and installation planning.
• Drive design improvements, standardization, and cost-optimization initiatives.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Ensure ISO, environmental, and safety compliance throughout project execution.
