Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a seasoned Risk Manager to oversee workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs. This leadership role manages claims, vendor contracts, and regulatory compliance for a large employee base, including first responders.

A bachelor’s in a related field and several years of risk management experience are required, with strong communications skills. The position is hybrid, with competitive pay and benefits, and closes on November 18, 2026.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, public administration, business administration or related field
• Five (5) years of risk management experience with strong emphasis on workers’ compensation claims handling
• Two (2) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility; vendor management experience
• Valid Texas Driver’s License; ability to obtain Texas workers’ compensation license within six months of employment
• Effective public speaking and ability to interact with city leadership and the public

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the workers’ compensation program and manage third-party administrator files
• Oversee claims from inception to resolution and coordinate with TPA and attorneys
• Develop and implement training and communications for employees and management on workers’ compensation
• Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare data reporting; monitor loss trends and provide guidance on settlements
