Job summary

Lockton Northeast is seeking an experienced Insourced Risk Manager to support a major private equity real estate client in the Metropolitan DC area, primarily from the client’s offices in Washington, D.C./Maryland. The role sits within Lockton’s Private Equity Real Estate team and is dedicated to the client account.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of risk management experience.
• Strong understanding of real estate development, operations and related insurance and risk management practices.
• Experience with contract review and negotiation related to insurance and indemnity in loan documents and other legal agreements.
• Ability to guide insurance requirements to executive teams, counsel, asset managers, clients, and partners.
• General knowledge of legal and compliance; experience working with legal counsel.
• Working knowledge of all lines of insurance – policies, coverages and fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary risk and insurance liaison among client leadership, asset management, and Lockton teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with executives, legal teams, lenders, and external advisors.
• Communicate risk, insurance, and claims matters to senior stakeholders.
• Lead strategic oversight and coordination of insurance claims.
• Manage builder's risk, OCIP, and construction liability programs for development projects.
• Develop and implement risk management policies, procedures, and governance practices.
• Oversee master and asset-level insurance programs and renewal strategy.
