Responsibilities

• Gathers all patient demographic data required in the Hospital Information System during patient interview.
• Screens patient for financial responsibility by using the uniform financial screening document.
• Verifies patient information by obtaining copies of proofs of residency, income, and third-party carriers.
• Determines potential reimbursement sources available to the patient and directs them to these sources.
• Determines the proper pay classification of the patient.
• Calculates patient’s charges for office visit and collects payment.
• Counsels with patients about unpaid bills.
• Researches invalid charge slips and creates appropriate account for billing.
• Creates a patient folder for appropriate paperwork.
• Adheres to internal controls established for department.
