Job summary

ATLAS, a research center at the University of Kansas, is seeking a Research Associate to support the development of learning maps-based educational solutions. You will contribute to cognitive models of student knowledge, help design formative assessment tools, and assist with proposals for externally funded projects.

ATLAS pursues accessible, evidence-based learning systems and collaborates with diverse partners.

Qualifications

• This position requires a doctoral degree or a master’s with significant research experience.
• Experience conducting research in education and synthesizing findings.
• Experience using universal design for learning principles to reach diverse learners.
• Experience or training in developing learning maps or formal learning models.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design, planning, and implementation of learning map projects using map-building software.
• Coordinate reviews with research, implementation, and content teams; adjust maps per feedback.
• Produce technical documentation for map development projects.
• Conduct research syntheses in K-12 education; summarize and analyze literature.
• Develop accessible, map-based educational materials and formative assessment tools.
• Contribute to proposals for funded projects and present to external audiences.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
