Job summary

First American, based in Houston, TX, is seeking a Commercial Title Officer/Underwriter to join our National Commercial Services team. The role supports underwriting and risk analysis for a broad range of national commercial real estate deals, including multi-site transactions.

You will review title records, provide underwriting guidance, and collaborate with attorneys, lenders, and clients to close deals in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, with hybrid onsite/remote options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial title and/or underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of commercial real estate law, title insurance, and settlement practices.
• Ability to analyze title history and identify risks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review complete title searches for commercial transactions ranging from single-site properties to complex national portfolios.
• Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization related to the issuance of title insurance commitments, endorsements, guarantees, and policies.
• Collaborate with attorneys, customers, lenders, and internal partners to resolve complex title matters and facilitate closings.
• Contribute to underwriting standards and guidelines and support national transactions across jurisdictions.
