Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Behavioral Health Case Manager to evaluate disability claimants, guide return-to-work decisions, and coordinate multidisciplinary reviews. The role focuses on STD/LTD reviews and leveraging clinical guidelines to assess functional capabilities for safe, productive reintegration into work.

Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree in behavioral health, a clinical license (LMHC/LCSW/LMFT/LPC or equivalent), and at least three years of post-degree clinical practice,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice following a clinical master’s degree.
• Master’s Degree required in a behavioral health or mental health discipline.
• License to practice in Behavioral Health Clinical work (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, LPC or similar).
• Professional licenses in Behavioral Health are required.
• A license to practice independently is required.
• Preference for case management and discharge experience.
• Preference for managed care/utilization review/insurance experience.
• Preference for crisis intervention skills.
• Solid technical acumen with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive evaluation of a disability claimant functionality.
• Advises on highly complex claims at multidisciplinary clinical review roundtables.
• Determines when claims contain quality of care issues and escalates these.
• Independently conferences with treating providers to evaluate clinical symptomology.
• Leverages resources such as vocational rehabilitation, risk management, physician reviews, home assessments.
• Manages risk and resources on highly complex behavioral health claims.
• Identifies return to work options and barriers to enable employability.
• Reviews clinical integration systems and determines referral resources.
• Supports leadership by understanding customer needs and ensuring performance objectives.
