Job summary

General Motors in Sunnyvale seeks a Software Engineer for the Software Validation team to advance autonomous vehicle behavior analysis. You will translate validation strategies into production code, build scalable tools, and collaborate across teams to improve testing methodologies.

Ideal candidates have a recent Master’s in CS or related field, strong software engineering experience, and proficiency in C++, Python, and SQL. Experience with AI-driven development and robotics is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in CS, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or related fields (Spring 2026).
• Experience in software engineering; bonus if overlap in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, or statistics.
• Strong skills in utilizing AI to accelerate SW development.
• Experience with SQL, Python, and C++ for analyzing large data sets and building production-quality simulation testing products.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to interpret data to derive insights.
• Ability to adapt under ambiguity and balance prototypes with long-term plans.
• Excellent communication skills across high-level and detailed discussions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prototype strategies to benchmark autonomy systems’ performance.
• Convert validation strategies into production code that analyzes AV behavior for scalable release cycles.
• Utilize data from simulation, bench, and road testing to provide insights for AI developers to improve stack performance.
• Use data analytics to support data-driven design, validation, and risk prioritization decisions.
• Build tools to scale testing products to additional users like software release and Embodied AI teams.
• Foster cross-team collaboration to establish coding best practices for Software Validation.
